It’s interesting to shop for homes in Wilmington and around the country, comparing the different types of properties you can purchase at different price points. Ever wondered about the type of home you could purchase with a $400K budget across the U.S.?
We looked around Wilmington, the West coast, D.C., Florida, and a few more places to see what a $400K budget could get you. There is such low inventory on the market and when you remove new construction, there was not much left. In Los Angeles, California there were a few condos for sale, but as for single-family homes, we found only two listings between $400K and $410K.
Check out what we found around the country:
Washington, D.C.: A $407K studio apartment
We found this no bedroom (the main living area has a pull-out bed), one bathroom studio apartment in Washington, D.C. The apartment itself is simple, but comes with unique amenities like a bike garage and shared rooftop terrace.
Selma, Alabama: A historic estate
Coming in UNDER a $400K budget is this home from 1872 in historic Selma, Alabama for $395,000. You’ll get a whopping SIX bedrooms, four bathrooms, and more than 6,000 square feet. The property still has the original greenhouse and a pool in the backyard, plus plenty of history.
West Coast: Portland Cottage
We found a dreamy cottage out in Portland, Oregon for $410,000. The home has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and 789 square feet.
Tampa: A modern cottage
For $415K in Tampa, Florida, we found a four-bedroom home with 1,700 square feet. This property was recently renovated, and features a patio, front porch, fire pit, and new appliances.
Los Angeles: A fire sale
We found very few homes listed in Los Angeles between $400k and $410k, though there were a number of studio apartments and condos. As for single-family listings, this fire sale in foreclosure was one of a few single-family listings available at the time we checked. This 1920s home features two bedrooms, one bathroom, and 1,000 square feet.
Wilmington: Historic downtown home
In Wilmington, we found this historic home on 5th Avenue for $385K. It has three bedrooms, and two bathrooms and is turn-key. This home is within walking distance to downtown attractions and was built in 1945.
