The Butcher’s Market on Oleander Drive in Wilmington not only carries a wide meat selection, but produce, pre-prepared foods and cheeses.

Finally, we had a chance to check out The Butcher’s Market on Oleander Drive. We got the grand tour, did a Facebook live, and even talked to management to get the inside scoop.

The shop can easily be a one-stop shop for most dinner prep. They have breads, produce, pastas, sauces, seasonings, pre-prepared salads and sides, charcuterie, and more. Obviously, they have a unique meat selection, too.

Here are some things we loved about The Butcher’s Market:

They Prioritize Local

There are North Carolina labels all over the store, making it clear this shop prioritizes local and regional products. The market carries local eggs, soups and salsas, Wilmington-made sauces and seasonings, and all sorts of interesting items.

The Staff Knows All

It was interesting to see so many butchers behind the counter, actively making different cuts and answering questions. Use these knowledgeable butchers to your advantage and learn about new cuts of meat. The staff was so knowledgeable about the different products, and even the stories behind some of the local farms.

Hard-to-Find Items

Check out the meat and seafood selection at The Butcher’s Market.

The exotic display shown above is a treasure trove of rare items not available at traditional grocers. You’ll find selections of lamb, duck (even whole duck), kangaroo, alligator, whole beef tongue, poussin rouge, and more. In the main butcher’s display, they have gorgeous certified wagyu beef worth a steep price.

Made in House

pre-made options at The Butcher's Market
There are lots of housemade items around The Butcher’s Market.

As we wandered around, we saw a number of items made in-house. There are bags of veggies with seasonings (think garlic butter asparagus or bourbon sweet potatoes) ready to be thrown into a sous-vide when you get them home. Each day the team at The Butcher’s Market cures and slices their own bacon; they make their own sausage blends and marinate a number of meats. You can also find pre-prepared salads, sides, and even take-and-bake dishes like Shepard’s pie.
