Quarantine restrictions are starting to lift throughout the United States – and with businesses opening back up, travel is the main thing on everyone’s mind. A chance to escape our homes and enjoy summer!

What better way to enjoy this summer with a stay at Carolina Beach, North Carolina – whether you’re in need of a road trip or a stay-cation, add Carolina Beach to your summer travel plans. One of the most beautiful places to soak up some sun at the beach, and enjoy your time as a family outdoors.

Our own Salty Seahorse is up and running and ready to host you on your beach vacation! While you’re enjoying an upscale experience, don’t forget to check out some of our favorite staples here in town and support local businesses.

The Boardwalk

Usually full of summer events like live music, weekly fireworks, and amusement rides – the Boardwalk is full of activities to keep both you and the family entertained when you aren’t at the beach. Due to the pandemic, these events are not taking place for Summer 2020, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check out the rest of the shops and restaurants on the strip.

These historic staples of the boardwalk are worth the visit:

  • Britt’s Donuts – Started by the Britts and Wrights in 1939, this donut shop is a cornerstone of the Boardwalk area! Providing a deliciously hot, handmade donut that is a safely-guarded and time-honored recipe is a sure way to enjoy the nostalgia and history of Carolina Beach while visiting. **Make sure to have some cash on you**
  • Pop’s Diner – To keep with the theme of nostalgia, this little diner delivers fresh American food in a 1950s atmosphere complete with Elvis. Owner, Darrell Rackley, will dress the part of Elvis complete with cape! Don’t forget to save room for dessert in the form of fried Oreos, fried Twinkies, and Funnel Cakes. ** Also vegetarian options**
  • Hurricane Alley’s – If you’re looking for an adult date night, this is the stop for you! This oceanfront bar and grill offers steam pots, crab legs, and great grilled sandwiches. You can dine on either the first-floor bar or the upper-level restaurant.

Beach and Outdoor Fun

Are you or your kids interested in surfing? There’s no better place to learn how to surf than Carolina Beach where surfing is a way of life on the Southern North Carolina coastline. Who better to learn from than Olympic Gold Medalist Tony Silvagni!
